Informal Beach Wedding Decorations

I am getting married on the beach. I keep reading that rose/flower petals are a good way to decorate, but I can not picture how this will look.

I have tried to find images show this but anytime I find some they are really formal weddings.

I was told by our coordinater that pewbows where not needed in the chapel because we are not having a formal cermony is this true?
